Tag you're it.

I was tagged in a blog post by a fellow author, A.T. Russell. The challenge is to answer the following questions and then tag other authors. This is how authors play tag and, since I don’t run unless it is life threatening, this is my favorite version of Tag! You’re it!

What are you working on right now?

At the moment I am working on edits for the first book, of a series, titled I See You. It is about a shape-shifter named Haven who sets out on a path of revenge against child predators. While searching for the monster who ripped away her innocence, murdered her trust and abused her body. But, when she discovers Cassidy and her mysterious Uncle Bryce, Haven’s world of secrecy is exposed. Her solitude life is challenged and the protective walls she built around her scarred heart begin to crumble. Tossing her into uncharted territory and reminding her of forgotten dreams. Struggling with the haunting memories of her past, the inability to trust and the hideous reality of abuse, Haven is thrown into a battle she never expected to fight and feelings she didn’t want to face.

I have also started the second book to I See You. Though I have not chosen a title for it yet, it will continue to follow Haven’s struggles as she continues her search for revenge. And, just to spark a little more curiosity, the challenge she faces in this one, just might destroy her.

How do your stories differ from others in its genre?

I base my stories on the horrors of reality, such as domestic violence or abuse. Using fantasy creatures with special abilities as some of my main characters, I to add unique features or capabilities to each of them. Ones that do not follow the normal fantasy character description. Such as adding poison injecting talons or wings to shape-shifting panthers, bears or other animals.

Why do I write what I do?

Writing fantasy is a thrilling, cleansing, and even sometimes a horrible vacation no one can buy. It allows my mind to run free. To release the tension and stress that comes with everyday life. An adventure I can enjoy without having to pack a suitcase or leave home to experience.

How does the writing process work?

For me, it starts after the sun sets and everyone is asleep. Using the crickets, frogs, and occasional hooting owls for background noise, I sit on the back porch and drift off into my own private world. Allowing myself uninterrupted time to cry with my characters, laugh at their antics, and feel their love and pain. Being a person who doesn’t want anyone to see my tears or hear my whispered words, solitude is a must for me. So, being a mom and wife, late at night is about the only time I have to be alone.

Now it’s my turn and I get tag three (there are more, but they have already been tagged) amazing authors I respect and adore. Dawn KirbyKat Daughtry, and Marc Quaranta guess what? “Tag you’re it!”
